Dr. Anthony Douglas II, MD

Surgeon Resident Anthony D. Douglas II, MD is a general surgery Resident Physician at the University of Chicago. He was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, graduated from South Bend Washington High School, Wabash College, and Indiana University of School of Medicine. Dr. Douglas has committed his early career to the care of trauma patients, research in health equity, and violence prevention. He has several publications related to surgical outcomes, equity in medical careers, care in both incarcerated and coronavirus patients. Dr. Douglas has received recognitions for his excellence as an educator, earned membership in Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and offered numerous awards and scholarships for his scholastic achievements throughout his training. He is a member of thee Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated. He is passionate about the socioeconomic and historical factors that impact trauma in urban communities and is dedicated to addressing these factors to reduce violence. At the University of Chicago he is the founder and first fellow of the University of Chicago Surgical Advocacy Fellowship. He is also the founder of the Lil Scholars non-for-profit, an organization committed to the prevention of violence through early childhood literacy. At the conclusion of his training he will be a board-certified Trauma and Acute care surgeon. |
